Improve Your Golf Course Knowledge

The game of golf is played on a golf course but have you ever thought about what goes into making a good golf course? I mean, what makes a good golf course, good, and what makes a not-so-good golf course? While we don't have the room to go through the precise details,  we can touch on some of the aspects of a golf course that makes it fun to play yet challenging too.

From now until the end of this article, take the time to think about how all of this information can help you.

Logically, the first thing you're going to require is land. I mean, you're going to require A LOT of land! The golf course must have some long holes as well as some shorter holes making 18 in all. However, most golfers will decide that having consistently longer holes  is a greater challenge. But they also require those shorter par 3s for a little ego boost!

Like a mini golf course, a normal golf course should be fun. You can't add the fun windmills or other hazards onto a normal golf course, but you can use the physical contours of the land to help construct challenges into the course.

Water hazards are another great way to give golfers a challenge on the golf course. ordinary lakes and rivers can be found all over the place, but you can also form man-made water hazards by digging out a large area and flooding it with water.  Water hazards make a player have to use flair to over come them and that makes a golf course fun to traverse.

Having some rough bunkers is a great way to get challenges on the golf course. Most bunkers are located around the holes, but they can also be sited in the fairway for added headaches! Having to hit out of the rough provides for all sorts of stroke modifications, and golfers love to have the challenge to hand!

Ordinary foliage and woods are also part of the golf course environment. There's nothing  worse to hear on a golf course than the sound of your ball hitting a tree and deflecting. Then you have the fun of finding the golf ball, its always difficult to find out where the ball landed. Did it go further in or did the deflection force it out onto the fairway? either way, you have another great way to challenge yourself with a physical obstruction.

A smart golf course can be great fun - for both the creator as well as the player. Take in the physical contours of your beloved golf course and then work through those hazards with a positive attitude. Then you'll be having fun!

Learning more about the sport of golf is important for any golfer, pro or amateur. Lots of people spend their hard earned money on a professional golf instructor to improve their game.
