Some Little Known Interesting Facts About Golf Balls

Without golf balls, you can not play golf. But often we do not give a second thought, to the golf ball we play, every game we play. So I did some research on golf balls and I found these little known facts, and now I will share them with you.

Callaway Golf, founded by Ely Callaway R. Jr., based in Carlsbad, California, began with golf clubs and then the manufacture of golf balls. Callaway developed the rule 35 golf ball , which in his view will allow the player to use one golf ball, no matter what the conditions, as it contains a unique combination of distance control, spin and sustainability, with great feel which allows the player to not have to second guess when hitting the ball. Two smart aquasitions are Top-Flite golf and Ben Hogan Golf.

Bridgestone Golf is the number one golf ball manufacturer in Japan and used by notables such as Fred Couples and Davis Love III. The company was founded by Shojiro Ishibashi in 1931 and began making golf balls in 1935. The company also owns the line precept balls.

The name most profitable in the industry , with annual sales of 1.2 billion is Titleist. Along with their line of Pinnacle golf balls. Both lines are owned by Fortune Brands, which started in 1932 by Philip E. Young and Fred Bommer. On December 8, 2010, the company announced its intention to sell the Titleist line. The plan is to sell this line to maximize profits for their shareholders.

Dunlop Sports, in United States, a manufacturer of equipment for many sports, is owned by Sumitomo Rubber Industries. Two top players playing with a Dunlop golf ball are Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke, who follow after a long series of famous competitors, to use the Dunlop ball. The first golf ball was manufactured in the Dunlop factory in Kobe, Japan in 1930. More recently they have started production of the golf ball, Srixon Z-Star, which quickly became known for his significant arrow alignment and its great sound. The second golf ball the company has launched this year is the Srixon Z-Star X. This ball has the industry talking because of its ability to stop on approach shots, while  maximizing distance even in any weather and their ability to transfer energy while feeling great on the greens.

A producer of golf equipment you may never have heard of is Kasco Golf. They began producing a golf ball in 1982 and they make a series of balls called Soft RR, RR Long, Dual Mode, and Kasco Royal. The company originally produced golf gloves in their factory, and on production of golf balls Kasco Europe was created . Their manufacturing process was patented  in 1988 and is designed so that the golfer loses less power and distance, if they hit off center.

The next time you play that little white ball you will know more about it. And although you might have preferred one brand over another you've found that it is common for companies to have more than one brand of golf ball under their umbrella.
